Judy E. (Thomas) Mayes

Judy Elaine Mayes, 76, of Defiance, passed away on  April 7, 2018 at Glenn Park of Defiance.  
  
She was born on February 8, 1942 to Edward and Irene (Butturini) Thomas in Valley Creek, TN.  On May 28, 1960 she married Douglas R. Mayes, who preceded her in death on August 4, 2007.
  
Judy was a member of Second Baptist Church, Defiance.  She was the treasurer for Defiance City Schools, and enjoyed quilting and watching sports, especially OSU Buckeyes Football and Kentucky Wildcats Basketball..
  
Judy is survived by her two sons, Bob E. (Jeri) Mayes of Grove City, OH, amd John K. (Judy) Mayes of Defiance, OH, grandchildren, Jay Mayes of Defiance, OH, Mitchell Mayes of Defiance, OH, Vandee (Josh) Salay of Defiance, OH, Troy Mayes of Columbus, OH, Meagan (Joel) Mefford of Pataskala, OH, and Emily Mayes of Grove City, OH, great-granddaughters, Ivee Boggess of Defiance, OH, and Hadley Mefford of Pataskala, OH, three brothers, Gary (Betty) Thomas of Silver City, NM, Donald (Johnann) Thomas of Tazwell, TN, and Mark Thomas of Denver, CO, four sisters, Wilma Cox of Jelico, TN, Cheryl (Marvin) Hall of Defiance, OH, Donna Kay (Luke) Bernander of Fort Collins, CO, and Regina (Russ) Fellows of Fort Collins, CO. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Douglas R. Mayes.
  
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
     
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with Rev. Max Begley, officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
