Joseph W. Hohenberger

Joseph W. Hohenberger, 64, of Harrisburg, IL,  passed away on  Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana as a result of an auto accident.   
  
He was born on September 16, 1954 to Paul "Darwood" and Ilene (Mack) Hohenberger in Defiance, Ohio. On October 1, 1977 he married Diane M. McKenney of Defiance. 

Joe attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg, IL. He started his career in Defiance and continued in healthcare administration for 40 years. Joe loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and Michigan football. He and Diane enjoyed traveling and antiquing. Joe was admired by all who knew him due to his kind nature and quick-witted humor. 
  
Joe is survived by his wife, Diane, his daughter Melissa of Reynoldsburg, OH, twin sons, Brent (Bethany) Hohenberger of Centerburg, OH, and Kirk (Kaitlin) Hohenberger of Dublin, OH, grandsons, Devon and Grayson Joseph, his mother, Ilene of Defiance, sister, Jane (Tom) Allen of Defiance, and brothers, Dan (Tina) of Defiance, and Mike (Mary) of Paulding.  
  
He was preceded in death by his father.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church.  A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at St. John's Catholic Church, with Father John Stites and Fr. Eric Mueller officiating. The family will host a luncheon following the service at VFW in Defiance.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Riverview Memory Gardens.
