Jose L. Perez, 69, of Defiance,  peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.   
  
He was born on March 27, 1948 to Hijinio and Doleres (Reyes) Perez in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Jose attended Bethel Worship Center, and he worked at General Motors Powertrain in Defiance. Jose was a guitar player and song writer, and in his younger years he played with a band called  "The Rolling Stones".
  
Jose will be missed by his son, David, daughter, Julie, two grandchildren, brothers, Juan Perez, Tony Perez, and Samuel Perez, and sisters, Olga (Ismael) Rodriguez, Rosalia (Romulo) Rangel, Eva Carrosquillo, Aida Rodriguez, Lydia Rodriguez,  Ines Rios, and Edna Pagan.  
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Virgilio Perez, Roberto Perez, and Ismael Perez, and sisters, Laura Gonzales and Virginia Arce.
  
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18th at Bethel Worship Center in Defiance, 815 Sauers Avenue, Defiance, OH 43512 with Arthur Perez and Rosie Perez officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
