Jerome "Jerry" F. BoesApril 7, 1938 ~ August 22, 2017 (age 79)
Jerome "Jerry" F. Boes, 79, of Antwerp, and formerly of Woodburn, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on April 7, 1938 to Francis and Carolyn (McFeeters) Boes in Toledo, Ohio. He was a former member of St. John Catholic Church in Defiance, and attended school at St. John Catholic School. Jerry worked for 33 years as a technician for NCR, retiring in 1992. He then established six Subway Restaurants in Defiance, Bryan, Napoleon, and Paulding, Ohio, and Garret, Indiana, which are still in existence today and family owned. He enjoyed making glass ornaments, and restoring old cash registers.
Jerry will be sadly missed by his sons, James (Becky) Boes of Paulding, Daniel (Greta) Boes of Spencerville, IN, daughters, Diane (Richard) Hall of Woodburn, IN, and Judy (Rod) Hamman of Antwerp, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brother, John (Marsha) Boes of Sherwood, and sister, Susie (Larry) Greenler of Defiance. Jerry always said, "I had the neatest family anyone could ask for."
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles Boes and Larry Boes, and sister, Mary Brown.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Hospice Center, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
