Florence M. Blake

Florence M. Blake, 95, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
She was born on November 21, 1922 to the late Harry and Maudie (Wagner) Edwards in Defiance. On February 16, 1942 she married Allen Blake, Sr, who preceded her in death on October 19, 1989. 

Florence was a member of  Olive Branch Church of God in Defiance. She worked for several years as a custodian at Defiance High School until her retirement in 1971. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, fishing, genealogy, and rabbit hunting. Florence cherished her family, and was proud of her children and their accomplishments. 
  
Florence will be sadly missed by her daughter, Jeannine (Bert) Arnett of  Dugger, Indiana, sons, Allen (Karen) Blake, Jr. and David Blake, and  daughter-in-law Penny Blake, all of Defiance. She was the proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren. 
  
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son Keith Blake, brother Nelson Edwards, granddaughter LaDonna, and great-grandchildren, Ashley and Mikael.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Rev. Ned Speiser and Rev. Burnell Hammons officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hill Cemetery.
