Eleanor R. "Nora" Cooper, 77, of Defiance, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
She was born on October 14, 1939 to Percy and Inez (Gordon) Shoemaker in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Nora was a member of Assembly of God Church in Defiance, and Defiance AMVETS Auxiliary. She worked for several years at Kroger and Wichman Florist.  She enjoyed flower gardening, and spending time with her family.
  
Nora will be missed by her son, Steven VanScoder of Bryan, daughters, Jody (David) Nunn of Cleveland, IL, Penny Rivas of Defiance, Tammy German of Pontiac, MI, and Cindy (David) Krumel of Defiance, stepdaughters, Peggy (Richard) Ward of Cecil,  Patsy (Ray) McClure of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Kim Lindsey of Defiance, sister Susan Miller of East Moline, IL, 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bonnie Stuckey, brothers, Donald, Douglas, Jack, Fred, and Robert Shoemaker, and grandson, Christopher Rivas.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sherwood Cemetery.
