Dennis A. Smith

Dennis A. Smith, 73, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home in Defiance.   
  
He was born on April 30, 1945 to the late Arland and Virginia (Lano) Smith in Defiance. On  June 17, 1967, he married Mary Ann (Matvey) Smith in Utica, Michigan by Fr. Edward DeKeysor. Dennis proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.

Dennis was a member of  St. Isadore Catholic Church. He was a teacher for over 15 years until his retirement in 1985. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and woodworking.  He helped build homes for several family and friends.
  
Dennis will be sadly missed by his loving wife of  50 years, Mary Ann Smith of Defiance, daughters, Lisa (Anita) Smith of Defiance, and Robin (Adam) Anders of Edgerton, three grandchildren; Logan Helmke of Napoleon, Caitlyn Anders and Caylee Anders, both of Edgerton, and brother, Gary (Debra) Smith of Defiance. 
  
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Fr. Robert Kill and Fr. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brunersburg Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by VFW #3360.
