Carolyn Jean (Grant) Connolly

Carolyn Jean Connolly (Grant), age 84, resident of Defiance, OH, formerly of Napoleon, OH,  passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on  January 24, 2019 after an extended battle with cancer. 

Jean was born on July 3, 1934 in Napoleon, Ohio. She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1952.  Jean was a wife and mother who also spent a great portion of her life working as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant for various places of business in Defiance and Napoleon. Jean was a creative and adventurous woman who loved learning about the history of Northwest Ohio and its early inhabitants. Among her eclectic interests, she collected arrowheads, antiques, and enjoyed painting local landscapes. She was a two time survivor of breast cancer.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Nellie (St. John) Grant, brothers Richard Grant and Jack Grant, sister Joan (Grant) Layton, former husband and father of her five children Timothy Connolly, son-in-law Edward "Scotty" Swatek, and infant daughter Susan Marie Connolly.

She is survived by her brothers Tom Grant (Nancy) and Jerry Grant  (Becky), sister Peggy (Grant) Rupp (Tom), and her four children, Mary Lee Swatek, Patricia Ann Parr (Gary), Amy Jo Connolly Haskins (Michael), and Timothy Kevin Connolly (Lisa), her six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held in the Spring.
