She was also a voracious reader, and loved being read to by family and friends. She was a hero and example of courage, strength, and bravery to all who knew her. She dedicated many years of service, working with people with special needs as well as advocating for women and survivors of abuse. She was very involved in youth ministry and programs within her church, First Baptist Church in Defiance, and served as an AWANA leader inspiring youth.
