Betty J. Colvin, 82, of Defiance, passed away on Monday morning, April 22, 2019 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 11, 1937 to the late Carl and Margaret (Hollister) Moore in Brunersburg, Ohio. On March 1, 1958 she married Thomas C. "Tom" Colvin, who preceded her in death on February 12, 2015.
Betty was a faithful member of First Church of God. She taught Sunday School and volunteered for various activities. Betty worked for over 35 years as a nurse at Defiance Hospital until her retirement in 1999. She also volunteered at local nursing homes, and was a member of DASH board. Betty enjoyed her book club, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and having lunch out with the ladies. She will be sadly missed by her family and many good friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Curtis (Lisa) Colvin of Raleigh, NC, Colleen (Doug) Goehler of Oro Valley, AZ, and Craig (Nancy) Colvin of Delta, Ohio, six grandchildren, Kathryn (Todd) Armstrong, Ryan Goehler, Andrew (Caroline) Goehler, Nathan Colvin, Evan (Joyce) Colvin, and Seth (Addison) Colvin, two great-granddaughters, Audrey and Sophia Armstrong, and her sister, Karen Pierce of Eveleth, MN.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at First Church of God, with Pastor Rick Rufenacht and Pastor Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
