Alfredo Flores, age 86, of Eagle Pass, Texas, formerly of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home in Texas.
He was born on February 19, 1932 to Abraham and Eudelia (Jones) Flores in Eagle Pass, TX. He was married for over 25 years to the late Catarina (Gill) Flores. Alfredo was a Marine Corps. Veteran during the Korean War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He moved to the Defiance area after serving in the Marines and worked for over 35 years at General Motors. Shortly after his retirement, he moved back to Texas.
He was a member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Eagle Pass, Texas. Alfredo and his wife were active in the church by ushering and helping with festivals and other celebrations, and in his leisure time he enjoyed refurbishing old furniture.
Alfredo is survived by his three sons, Alfredo Flores, Jr.and Eugene "Kelly" Flores, all of Alliance, OH, and Robert (Tammy) Flores of Defiance, 7 grandchildren, sister, Carmen Rodriguez of Defiance, brothers, Abraham (Margaret) Flores of Defiance, Jose Flores of Ottoville, and David (Mary) Flores of Defiance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catarina Flores, and a son, Daniel Flores.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church in Defiance. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
