Samuel J. Davis

Samuel J. Davis, age 77, passed away on Wednesday evening, January 10, 2024 at his residence in Evansport, Ohio.
  
He was born on August 15, 1946 to Samuel and Martha (Prine) Davis in Delphos, Ohio.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. On August 18, 1974 he married Sheila Shew, who preceded him in death on November 13, 2009. 
  
Samuel was a member of Bryan Eagles,#2233,  Moose Lodge #2094, Elks #147, VFW #3360, AmVets #1991, and Evansport Fox Club. He worked at Compo Corp for several years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time with his Evansport buddies. Samuel was a big time cruiser around the Evansport area. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends.
  
Samuel is survived by his children, Samuel "JD" (Miranda) Davis of Defiance, Jamey Davis of Oakwood, OH, Shane Davis and Holly (Mitchell) Maddox, all of Ft. Wayne, IN. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, and his siblings, Bob Davis of Gatlinburg, TN, Peggy (Mike) McClaine of Bryan, OH, and Helen Thomas of Van Wert, OH. 
  
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Marcia Sisco, William Miller, Jr., Larry Miller, Judy Sexton, Shelva Browning and Vera Yocklin.
  
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 11:00 am  to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Military service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with military honors conducted by VFW #3360.
