Phillip K. Winkler, age 77 of Cecil, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his home.
He was born on March 14, 1947 to Phillip and Mary (Dennison) Winkler in Springfield, Ohio. Phillip attended South High School in Springfield, Ohio and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967. On February 26, 1968 he married Brenda Manning, who survives. Phillip worked for over 25 years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement. He was a Little League football coach and loved sports. He was a history buff and enjoyed collecting guns. Phillip will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Winkler of Cecil, OH, his children, Tammy (Estest Mann) Winkler and Brian (Theresa) Winkler, all of Paulding, OH, and Cheryl (Juan Jr.) Espinoza of Canton, TX. He also leaves behind his sister, Belinda Winkler, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Devin Feeney and Juan Espinoza, III, and six brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Winkler officiating. Phillip will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by VFW #3360.
