Enrique "Rick" Vasquez Martinez, Jr.

Enrique “Rick” Vasquez Martinez Jr., age 47 of Defiance, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus his Lord and Savior surrounded by his wife and family on Wednesday morning, February 14, 2024 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
 
He was born on June 21, 1976 to Enrique and Elizabeth (Urbina) Martinez Sr. in Defiance, Ohio. On February 14th, 1998 he married Lorena “Lorane” Hernandez who survives. Rick was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend who touched the lives of many around him. He was employed at DMP/MEC as a certified Mig Welder for 25yrs. He cherished spending his time with his wife Lorane, family and friends and his pets Bentley and Kitty. Rick was also a big fan of the Detroit Lions and the Michigan Wolverines and loved hosting a good game night. Rick was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many good friends. 

Enrique is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Lorena "Lorane" of Defiance, OH, his parents, Elizabeth and Enrique V. Martinez Sr., his sisters, Melissa (Erasmo) Elias and Flora (Ben) Silva, all of Defiance, OH, his brother, Guadalupe (Veronica) Martinez, ten nephews, seventeen nieces, and thirteen great-nieces and great nephews. 
  
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Guadalupe Urbina, brother-in-law Erasmo Elias Jr., and nephew Ryan Moll. 
  
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the funeral home, with one hour of additional visitation before the service. Pastor Nick Hill and Pastor Vicente Cantu will officiate.
