Emma Kay Maddock, age 77 of Defiance, passed away on Monday morning, February 26, 2024.
She was born on November 27, 1946, to John and Loretta (Lutz) Drennan in Medina, Ohio. On November 29, 1968, she married Roger Maddock who survives.
Emma grew up in Elyria Ohio. She got her bachelor’s degree from BGSU in Education and worked as a teacher at Ft Jennings Elementary School. She learned to swim as an adult and pursued enough skills to become a lifeguard and manager at Ayersville Natatorium. She studied accounting and worked as an accountant before earning her master’s degree and working as a Mental Health Counselor.
She was an active and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church. She as a member of the St. John Choir and Bible Study Group. She enjoyed playing violin in the Black Swamp Community Orchestra and spent her leisure time quilting, gardening, reading, and baking. Emma was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Emma is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Roger Maddock of Defiance, her children Amy (Randy) Fletcher of Perrysburg OH, Jason (Jennifer) Maddock, and Ben (Regina) Maddock, all of Defiance, nine grandchildren, and her sister Deanna Moore of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John, and Loretta Drennan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Emma will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
