Charles "Charlie" Lynn Jewell passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewis County, West Virginia to Clyde and Reta Jewell on January 12, 1938. He graduated from Weston High School in 1956.
On June 4, 1957, he married the love of his life Delcie "Deanie" Polan, who survives. Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed overseas in Germany for one year. Charlie and Deanie moved to Ohio in 1959. Charlie worked for Dinner Bell, Frozen Specialties, and New Home Development and was an avid supporter and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. He had a love of woodworking and enjoyed working on projects for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlie was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance.
Charlie is also survived by his children, Scarlet (Ken) Zachrich, Dennis (Laurie) Jewell, and son-in-law Stan Rohrbaugh; six grandchildren: Kris (Mackenzie) Rohrbaugh, Kristen Zachrich, Nick (Mallory) Zachrich, Kari Rohrbaugh, Kelly (Jimmy) Salyers, and Angie (Mike) Steiner; eleven great-grandchildren: Alayna and Brody Reigle, Ryder Salyers, Levi, Wyatt, and Molly Zachrich, Will and Samantha Rohrbaugh, Matty, Waylon, and Juliet Steiner; siblings: Shirley (Vince) Stout, Ed (Sharon) Jewell, Judy (Mike) Koch, and Steve (Sherry) Jewell, and sister-in-law Waneta Jewell.
Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha Rohrbaugh, his parents, and his brother Roscoe Jewell.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am at the church, with Rev. David Brobston officiating.
