Betty J. Lehman, 90 of Defiance, Ohio passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Laurel's of Defiance.  Betty was born in Defiance on November 20, 1933 to the late Clarence A. "Lonnie" and Goldie M. (Mansfield) Floehr.  A lifetime resident of Defiance, Betty was a 1951 graduate of Defiance High School where she was a member of the band and played clarinet.  Betty was married to the late James "Jim" L. Lehman for 56 years, until his passing in 2013.  Betty and Jim have three sons, the late James J. "Jimmy" (Pat) Lehman, Jerry (April) Lehman of Wisconsin and Jeff (Melanie) Lehman of Montpelier, Ohio.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kyle (Kim) Lehman, Emily Lehman, Lydia Lehman, Mahalia (Andrew) Winters and Henry Lehman.  Betty was predeceased by her husband, parents, eldest son, and her younger brother, A. John Floehr.

Besides being a homemaker, Betty had been employed at the former G.C. Murphy department store, Wellman's Restaurant and Awards Plus all of Defiance.  She was an Avon lady  as well as a self-employed seamstress and baker of cakes for special occasions.  Betty was known to have made both cakes and bride and bridesmaids dresses for numerous weddings.  She was active in "Defiance Remembers" which was sponsored by the Defiance Co. Senior Center as well as the Defiance County Historical Society where she served several terms as the Chairman of the Board and Auglaize Village where she was known as "the worm lady", the butter lady and the herb lady, just to name a few.  Betty took a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of her family.  Betty was an avid reader and "fervent conversationalist".  She never met a stranger and was willing and prepared to talk at length with anyone.
