Wesley C. "Kite" Brown, 78, of Defiance, passed away on July 14, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.

He was born on July 6, 1938 to Harry and Rosa (Warren) Brown in Defiance. On July 8, 1962 he married Connie (Ladd) Brown, who resides in Defiance.

Wesley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Defiance. He worked at All-Star Products in the late 1950's for eight years. He then worked for the City of Defiance in the Streets Division for 31 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola bottles, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Wesley is survived by his loving spouse of 54 years, Connie Brown of Defiance, sons Steven (Kim) Brown and Andy Brown, all of Defiance, 5 grandchildren:, Alyssa (Nicholas) Hoffman, Steven Brown, Jr., Katelyn Brown, Corbin Brown, and Lilly Brown, great-granddaughter, Riley Hoffman, brothers, James "Ed" (Beverly) Brown and Harry (Frances) Brown, Jr., all of Defiance, and sister, Pearl Presley of Angola, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Harry Brown, sister Marie Grunden, and two brothers, who died in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
