Wayne W. Cooper
December 16, 1923 ~ May 5, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years OldWayne Cooper, 93 , of Bryan, formerly of Defiance, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Fountain Park Assisted Living in Bryan, Ohio.
He was born on December 16, 1923 to Paul and Matilda (Watson) Cooper in Defiance County, Ohio. Wayne served our country in the U.S. Army during W.W.II from 1943 to 1946. On November 10, 1951 he married Glenna (Holt) Cooper, who preceded him in death on December 7, 2014.
Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church in Defiance. While in the Army he worked stateside, trained carrier pigeons and also worked as a clerk. He worked for 44 years as a machinist at Defiance Precision Products, or GT Technologies, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed his machining projects in his shop at home, and he loved to raise and show rabbits.
Wayne is survived by his three sons, David (Arlene) Cooper, and Mark Cooper, all of Defiance, and Mitchell (Anita) Cooper of Bryan, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a sister Marianne Merriman of Springfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Glenna Cooper, brother Larry Cooper, and sisters Delores Handy and Wanda Tracy.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Defiance, with Pastor Wayne Alstaetter officiating. Burial will follow the service at Poplar Ridge Cemetery in Adams Township, with Military Graveside Rites accorded by VFW #3360.
