Thelma M. Carnahan, 86, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born to Lyman and Bertha (Brown) Roehrig on December 13, 1930 in Defiance. Thelma graduated from Defiance High School on June 2, 1948, and then on July 4, 1948 she was married to Glen E. Carnahan, who preceded her in death in July 9, 2008.
Thelma was a life member and former President of VFW Auxiliary, she was a Poll worker for Defiance Township B voting place for the Board of Elections, and she volunteered at Anthony Wayne Elementary School library. Thelma loved watching the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Thelma will be sadly missed by her five children; daughters, Carol Dingus of Defiance, and Beverly (Tim) Stockman of Bluffton, Ohio, three sons; Michael (Karol) Carnahan of Cecil, Randy (Diane) Carnahan of Temperance, MI, and Garry (Monica) Carnahan of Napoleon, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Carnahan, granddaughter, Valerie Dingus, great-granddaughter, Candice Dingus, son-in-law, Vernon Dingus, three brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 3rd at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, with Pastor Lee Genter officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
