Soloman L. McCoy, 72, of Ney, passed away on  April 30, 2016 at the Genesis Health Care Center, Bryan. 
  
He was born on July 20, 1943 to Hillard and Gusta (Lane) McCoy in Mengo County West Virginia. On July 2, 1962 he married Frances  Sue Gilliam who survives in Bryan.

He was employed as a coal miner, worked at Campbell's Soup in Napoleon, and at the Defiance G.M. Powertrain retiring in 1999.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Soloman had a passion for helping others, loved to garden, and being outdoors.  He was also a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church, Defiance..
  
Soloman is survived by his wife Frances Sue McCoy, daughters, Lois Iliff of Ney, OH, and  Brenda (Frank) Perkins of Lorton, VA, a son, Barry L. McCoy of Ocala, FL, 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother, John F (Merlene) McCoy of Defiance, sisters, Charlotte G. Owens of Virginia, and Dorla (Tom) Owens of Virginia. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, William Thieme, brothers, Hillard Lee McCoy, Jr. and Melvin McCoy, and a sister, Bernice McCoy.
  
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.
     
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral  Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. Isaac Shelton, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
