Scott Allen Smith, 50, of Holgate, passed away February 26, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio.  
  
He was born on March 24, 1965 to Jerry and Marilyn (Culler) Smith in Defiance. He was a loving father to Tyler (Melissa) Smith of Liberty Center, and Danielle Smith (Steve Gomez) of Holgate, and was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren; Austin Smith, Juliette Smith, Violet Smith, Anthony Young, Parker Smith and Layla Gomez. He is survived by a sister Connie (Dale) Gruenhagen of Defiance and a brother Mike (Amy) Smith of New Bavaria, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his granddaughter Addison.
  
Scott was a member of St. Stephens Church in Defiance. Scott graduated from Ayersville High School and was a truck driver for numerous trucking companies over the years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, NASCAR and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, but his greatest love was his kids and his grandkids. He was greeted in heaven by his faithful four legged friends Derby and Jonah.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and for one hour prior to services on Thursday.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. William Stottlemyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery in Defiance.
