Rose Margerette Hahn, 91 years old, died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016. Rose was born to Rosina M. Keller and William E. Lange on August 18, 1924 in Alton, IL. She married Norman E. Roehrig Sr. on October 18, 1942 in Defiance where they resided until his death in 1999. Rose married Merl Hahn on June 16, 2001.
Rose graduated from Defiance High School in 1942. She was a wife and mother of six children. She had two sets of twins and was co-founder of the Mother of Twins Club, Defiance Chapter. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and also enjoyed attending Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. Rose loved playing cards with family and friends and doing word puzzles. In these last years, she also loved sitting in the swing watching the river with husband Merl. They would joke that the river never ran dry.
Rose is preceeded in death by her parents, husband Norman E. Roehrig Sr., brothers Eugene O. and Will J. Lange and stepson Bruce Hahn. She is survived by husband Merl, children Norman E. Roehrig Jr. (Sharon Brabec) of Greeley, CO; Sharon Myers (Paul Fenter) of Troy, OH; twins Mark (Nancy) Roehrig of Defiance & Elaine (Mike) Bodi of Temperance, MI; and twins Janice (Erik) Johansen of Defiance & Matthew Roehrig of Wilmington, NC; stepchildren Greg (Lisa) Hahn and Roseann (Jake) Varner of Defiance; 27 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Schaffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 from 2:00 - to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday January 20, 2016 at the church one hour prior to services. Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Sunday Morning Broadcast program or Defiance Senior Center.
