Ronnie Gene Owens, 59, of Oakwood, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on Sunday, April 10, 2016  at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.  
  
He was born on August 29, 1956 to Bobby Gene and Ruby (Ratliff) Owens in Hicksville, Ohio.  His father is deceased, and his mother survives in Oakwood, Ohio. Ronnie served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978 and the Army Reserve from 1978 to 1981. He was a member of the Cannon Crew, and was rewarded an Expert Rifleman Status during his service. Ronnie was employed by Dana Weatherhead, Trident Corporation as a shift supervisor, and recently Global Precision Products as a screw machine operator. Ronnie was a former member of the Eagles in Bryan. He was a dedicated dad and papaw who loved his family very much. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and camping. Ronnie was a big Ohio State football fan, and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
  
Ronnie is survived by a son, William Joseph Owens of Oakwood, two daughters; Amanda (Josh) West of Defiance, and Tracy Owens and fiance Jacob Current of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, 4 grandchildren; Jessica, Dakota, Devin and Jase, two brothers; Gary (Misty) Owens of Oakwood and Jeff (Kris) Owens of Paulding, three sisters; Carol (Don) Delarber of Continental, Trish (Bud) Crowl of Paulding, and Missy (Keith) Paschall of Defiance.

He was preceded in death by father, Bobby Gene Owens, and sister Joyce Starr.
  
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Tracy officiating.
