Rodney L. Bechtol, 66, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.   
  
He was born on August 19, 1951 to Elmer and Betty (Brownell) Bechtol in Adrian, MI. Rodney proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and was stationed in Germany. On October 6, 1995 he married Nancy (Smith) Bechtol, who resides in Defiance. 

Rodney worked in the maintenance dept. at Defiance Metal Products, and at Young, Spring & Wire in Archbold, OH. He was a member of  VFW #3360, AMVETS #1991, Eagles #372, and Moose #2094. He enjoyed watching western movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
  
Rodney will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 22 years, Nancy Bechtol of Defiance, daughter, Kelly (Aaron) Hopson, stepdaughters, Colleen (Nate) Koppenhofer and Amy (Steve) Hoffman, all of Defiance, 6 grandchildren, and sisters, Karen Ordway and Sue (Jeff) Kraft, all of Defiance. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger, Chuck, and Jerry Bechtol.
  
Visitation will be held from 9-11 am on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by VFW #3360.
