Paul F. Zachrich
January 14, 1926 ~ May 14, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years OldPaul F. Zachrich, 91, of Ayersville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on January 14, 1926 to Albert and Lida (Brinkman) Zachrich in New Bavaria, Ohio. Paul served our country in the U.S. Navy during WW II from 1945-1946. On October 29, 1949 he married Mary Lou (Schelling) Zachrich, who resides in Ayersville.
Paul was an active member of Pleasant Bend United Methodist Church. He was a life long farmer and also worked for 35 years as a shipping clerk at Defiance Metal Products in Defiance, retiring in 1991. Paul was a member of American Legion in Holgate, the Defiance County Farm Bureau, and was a board member of the Defiance Area Youth For Christ. Paul enjoyed playing cards and doing crossword puzzles, but mostly he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Paul will be sadly missed by his loving spouse of 67 years, Mary Lou Zachrich, sons, Tom (Jane) Zachrich, Ron (Linda) Zachrich, daughter, Connie Zachrich, grandchildren: Tom (Barbie) Zachrich, Chad (Kim) Zachrich, Carrie (Chad) Kaup, Nathaniel (Samantha) Zachrich, Matthew (Evin) Zachrich, and Jon (Sarah) Zachrich, great-grandchildren: Brandon (Katie) Zachrich, Austin-Nichole (Jeremy) Huebner, Adam Zachrich. Abby Zachrich, Ella Kaup, and Calvin Zachrich, great-great-granddaughters: Scarlett Huebner and Violet Huebner, and sister, Vivian Zachrich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Alvin, Earl, Nelson, and Orville Zachrich.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home with Rev. Irvin Leidy officiating. Entombment will follow the services at Riverview Memory Gardens where members of the Defiance VFW 3360 will accord military honors.
