Norva Ernest Skiver, 90, of Defiance, went to be with the Lord peacefully with his family by his side at home on Sunday, September 10, 2017.   
  
He was born on August 10, 1927 in Defiance to the late Carl and Creda (Wheeler) Skiver. Norva was a lifelong farmer. He worked for Johns Manville for 13 years. He was an Auglaize Township Trustee for 15 years. Norva was a member of First Baptist Church in Defiance and served as an usher for 36 years. 
  
Norva is survived by his loving spouse of 67 years, Frances Skiver of Defiance, children; Sandra (Stephen) McDonald of Jacksonville, Florida, Richard (Cindy) Skiver of Defiance, and Terry (Robert) Fry of Toledo, Ohio. He has five grandchildren;  Kim Molitor, Heather Warhurst, Krista Schroeder, Michael McDonald, and Lana Gorrell, nine great-grandchildren, and one sister, Gladys Baker of Holgate, Ohio. 
   
Visitation will be at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, 1399 S. Jefferson Avenue in Defiance on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Ron Monteith and Rev. Wayne Altstaetter officiating. Burial will follow the service at North Mt. Zion Cemetery in Continental, Ohio.
