Norman Dean Miller

August 22, 1936 ~ April 10, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Norman Dean Miller, 79, of Defiance , passed away on  April 10, 2016 at the Tavares Hospice House, Tavares, Florida.

He was born on August 22, 1936 to Harvey and Marie (Rumschlag) Miller at Defiance, Ohio.  Norman was retired from Johns Manville.

In 1977, Norm married Donna Demaline.  They enjoyed over 25 years together traveling, fishing and spoiling grandchildren.  After her passing he became a snowbird spending winters in Florida where he met Bertha Hess.  They became companions and split their time between, Florida, Ohio and Washington DC visiting family and friends.

Norm and Bertie’s Florida time was spent at the Tavares Homeowners, Inc Park (THI).  Norm would be up early taking his daily walk making sure everyone in the park had their morning paper within reach.  He enjoyed driving and often used his Miller short cuts to get where he wanted to go.  He had a great sense of direction most of the time.  He made many trips to the airport in Florida picking up and delivering park residents, family and friends.  Norm will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

One of his greatest joys was feeding people.  Most adventures included a meal out. He always wanted to pick up the tab.

Norman is survived by his twin sons, Bruce (Deb) Miller of Oakwood, Ohio and  Brian Miller (friend, Robyn) of Sherwood, Ohio; daughter, Julie (Tim) Shirk of Centerville, Ohio, 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; companion, Bertha Hess, Tavares, Florida; brother, William (Bev) Miller of Defiance, Ohio; sister, Connie Sprouse of Paulding, Ohio; sister-in-law, Linda Miller, Defiance, Ohio; and brother-in-law, Paul Siler, Defiance, Ohio. As well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Miller; brother, Larry Miller; twin sister, Jean Siler; and sister, Margaret Schaffer.

Per his wishes there will be no visitation and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
