Miguel Reyes, 85, of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, October 16, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
He was born on September 19, 1932 to Leon and Julia (Sertuche) Reyes in Cotulla, Texas. Miguel married Merry (Behling) Reyes, who preceded him in death on April 28, 1995.  He worked for several years at General Motors in Defiance until his retirement. He was a social member of AMVETS in Defiance, and he enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, and hunting.
  
Miguel will be greatly missed by his sons, Miguel Reyes, Jr. and Tom Reyes, daughters, Debi Brown and  Alice Ann Reyes, all of Defiance,  stepdaughter, Stella (Pete) Tokar of Miramar, FL, 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two brothers, and five sisters. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Merry Reyes, one brother and one sister.
  
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 20th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Fr. Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
