Mary M. Mansfield, 91, of Defiance, passed away  peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital, with her family at her side.  
  
She was born on May 11, 1924 to Michael and Evelyn (Liska) Breckler in Brooksville, FL. On October 15, 1946 she married Edward V. Mansfield, who preceded her in death on January 17, 1996.
  
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio. She loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed bird watching, reading, vegetable and flower gardening. Carnations were her favorite flower because like her, they stayed beautiful for so long. Her family will miss the wonderful strawberry jam she made every year.
  
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Jane (Michael) Schwab of Custar, OH, Shirlee (Jack) Davidson of Warren, OH, Marilyn (Michael) Shannon of Bryan, OH, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters, Donna Breckler and Reba Breckler both of Defiance, OH.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward V. Mansfield, son, Mark Mansfield, brothers, John and Michael Breckler, sisters, Revella Willitzer and Evelyn Wurst.
  
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
    
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at St Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Father Randy Giesige, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in the Mansfield Cemetery.
