Mary Jean "M.J." Bridenbaugh Rand, 92 , of Toledo, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at St. Anne's Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.  
  
She was born on April 29, 1924 to Mirl and Rose (Fieldner) Goller in Defiance. M.J. was a 1942 graduate of Defiance High School, and earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Stephens College in 1944. She then earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Miami University in 1946. On November 19, 1949 she married Tom Bridenbaugh, who preceded her in death in 1981. In 1993 she married Robert Rand, who passed away in 2008. 
  
M.J. was a substitute teacher and an Art Teacher at Defiance High School. She was an interior designer in Defiance, and later in Sante Fe, New Mexico. 
  
Mary Jean will be greatly missed by her sons, John (Linda) Bridenbaugh, and William (Sharon) Bridenbaugh, all  of Defiance, grandchildren; Thaddeus Brown, Margaret Giesige, Jack Bridenbaugh, Michael Bridenbaugh, and Madeline Bridenbaugh, great-grandchildren; Nicholas Brown and Joe Giesige. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Tom Bridenbaugh, second husband, Robert Rand, sisters, Margaret Goller and Mildred Goller.
  
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.  Funeral services will follow at 11:30 am, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
