Marie A. Sager, 91, journeyed to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 3, 2016. She passed away peacefully at the Meadows of Kalida  in Kalida, Ohio, where she had resided since May, 2008.

Marie was born on August 22, 1925 in Defiance, the daughter of Pete and Florence (Truby) Siler. She attended the Defiance Schools, and worked at All Star Products and Bud's Hamburger Shop in Defiance. In the late 70's she was co-owner of the Oakleaf Restaurant in Oakwood with her late husband James Fulmer. Together they also owned horses that won blue ribbons at the Sulky Races.

Marie is survived by a son, Mark (Brenda) Rau, and daughter, Laura Fulmer of Defiance, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two stepchildren, Denita Fulmer and Doug Fulmer of Defiance, two nieces, Pam (Max) Meek of Elida, and Susan (Chuck) Hudson of Montpelier, and a nephew Steve Schmunk of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia Schmunk, first husband, Albert Rau, Sr. sons, Dennis Rau, Albert Rau, Jr., and Greg Rau, daughter Beth Ann (Rau) Fleming, and former husbands Fred Moss and Lloyd Sager.

Marie was a long standing member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Defiance, a faithful follower of the Lord, a loving mother, grandmother, and Aunt. Marie  always kept  "young at heart" and her enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to all who knew her. 

She often ended visits with "Peace Be With Us" instead of good-byes. Near the end of her journey, she told her family "Make your life count - live it for Jesus".
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Pastor Donald Luhring officiating. Entombment will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens.
