Marian Elizabeth (Maag) Gump

Marian Elizabeth Gump, 92, of Defiance, passed away in her home on Friday, January 26, 2018.  
  
She was born on May 11, 1925 to Albert and Anna (Randolph) Maag in Defiance. She was a 1943 graduate of Defiance High School.  Marian worked for Lectrolite and Willey Garman, and she later worked as a cook for Maag's Cafe for 47 years, retiring in 1990.
  
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance.  She was also a Golden Eagle member of  Defiance Eagles #372, and a Life Member of the Defiance VFW Auxiliary Post #3360. 
  
Marian will be sadly missed by her daughter, Ann Gump of Defiance, sons, Robert (Carol) Gump of Marrero, LA, and James (Frances) Gump of Wadsworth, OH, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her loving K-9 companion Alfie. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Bonnie Gump, brothers James and Robert "Duke" Maag, and sister Gert Deitrick.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 31st at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Randy Giesige officiating.  Burial will follow in Myers Cemetery.
