Marcille Britton Obituary

Marcille Britton, 87, of Oakwood, formerly of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at VanCrest Healthcare Center of Holgate.

She was born on May 20, 1930 to Nobel and Nancy (Matson) Bidlack in Oakwood, Ohio. She was married to Darl W. Porter, father of their five children, who preceded her in death in 2000. She was also married to Ralph E. Britton, who passed away in 2008.

Marcille worked at John Earl Clothing Store in Van Wert, Campos Corp. in Defiance, and General Motors in Defiance until she had her children. She cared for their five children, gardened, canned, and enjoyed keeping a tidy home.

She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Defiance, and later attended church with her family at First Church of God, Defiance. She was also a member of the YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobic classes, and the friendships she developed there. She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, going to dances and music festivals, playing cards and socializing, attending church services and Bible studies. They were snow birds for many years so they could remain active all year around and socialize with their many friends. She enjoyed setting a nice table for dinner, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved to hold the babies and had a tender heart where her family was concerned.

A Special Thank-You to the employees of VanCrest of  Holgate for the compassion, kindness and care of our mother and grandmother, and many thanks to Hospice of Putnam County for the extra special attention this past year.
