Marcia L. Pessefall, 81, of Defiance,  peacefully passed away, with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at The Laurels of Defiance.   
  
She was born on October 10, 1936 to William and Virginia  (Murphy)  Ratzlaff  in Defiance. Marcia was a 1954 graduate of Defiance High School. On September 4, 1952 she married Leo W. Pessefall, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2016.  
  
She was a member of  St. Mary Catholic Church, and was active in the Altar Rosary Society. She worked for 28 years at Defiance Hospital as a nurse and secretary, retiring in 1988. Other memberships include Eagles #372 and VFW #3360 Auxiliary. Marcia enjoyed baking, painting and doing crafts. She was a very loving and accepting woman with a giving heart. She always volunteered and gave a helping hand to anyone in need. Spending time with her family was always a priority, and she will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her.
  
Together, during their marriage of 64 years, Marcia and Leo raised two sons, Dana (Carol) Pessefall, and Marc (Rose) Pessefall, all of Defiance. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. 
  
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Pessefall, and brother, William Ratzlaff.
  
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
