Kenneth E. Grunden

Kenneth Eugene Grunden, 68, of Defiance, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center with his family by his side. 
  
Ken was born on November 20, 1949 to Richard and Marie (Brown) Grunden in Defiance. He graduated from Defiance High School in 1969. On October 25, 1986 he married Beth Wilhelm and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2017.  Ken served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971.  Ken worked as a laborer for GM Powertrain for 35 years retiring in 2006.  He was a member of Defiance VFW Post #3360, AmVets Post #1991, the NRA, the Defiance County Fish and Game Club, and the Auglaize Golf Club.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and attending the Lima Gun Show.  Ken especially loved spending time with his family.   
  
Ken is survived by his father Richard Grunden; sons, Jamie (Catherine) Grunden and Joe (Lori) Grunden; daughters, Kendra (William) Smith and Brittany Grunden, all of Defiance, three step daughters; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and six step grandchildren. 
  
He was also preceded in death by his mother, Marie Grunden.
  
Visitation will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 11:00 am with Rev. David Brobston, officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance with military graveside rites accorded by the Defiance VFW Post #3360.
