Jose G. Urbina, 91, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.  
  
He was born on April 4, 1926 to Manuel and Angelita (Garcia) Urbina in Pharr, Texas. On April 14, 1967 he married Maria (Cuevas) Urbina, who resides in Defiance. Jose was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He worked for 34 years at General Motors in Defiance, and retired in 1988. He was also a member of UAW #211. Jose enjoyed dancing and music, gardening, traveling, and working on cars. He loved spending time with his family, and his dog, Brownie.
  
Jose will be greatly missed by his loving spouse of  50 years, Maria Urbina of Defiance, daughter, Juanita Ochoa of Findlay, OH, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Guadelupe (Cindy) Urbina of Defiance, and Leodoro Urbina of Grand Rapids, MI, sisters, Carol Urbina of Grand Rapids, MI, Virginia (Guadelupe) Urbina of Defiance, and Melinada (Tony) Paiz of Holland, MI. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ofelia Casarez and Hortencia Herrera, and brothers, Juan Urbina and Ramiro Urbina. 
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 20th at St. John Catholic Church, with Fr Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
