Jack R. Schubert, 86, of Defiance, passed away on  March 18, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.  
  
Jack was born on April 3, 1930 in Rice, Ohio, son of Olin and Kathryn (Hill) Schubert.  On October 6, 1956, he married Norma Jean Sanford, who preceded him in death on December 29, 2006.

Jack served as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army from 1951 - 1953.  He worked as an inspector for GM Powertrain for 43 years retiring in 1993.  He was a  member of First Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder, a past member of Ayersville Athletic Boosters, and a life member of VFW Post #3360 and the UAW, and was a 1948 graduate of Ayersville High School.  Jack was a member of the Founders Club at Glenn Park of Defiance.

He enjoyed gardening, working in his shop and spending time with his grandchildren and great-greatchildren.
  
Jack is survived by his son, Gregory (Katherine) Schubert of Defiance, OH, daughters, Debra (Gardner) McLean of Bowling Green, OH, Lisa (Thomas) Rumbaugh of Wooster, OH, and Connie (Timothy) Nicely of Defiance, OH, 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, with the ninth to arrive this summer, sisters Marilyn Smith of Continental, OH, and Loretta (Donald) Wight of Madison, AL.
  
 He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, parents, infant brother Alan Schubert, and twin brother Gene Schubert.
  
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio and also on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Defiance, OH, with Pastor Lynn Bova officiating.
  
Burial and Honor Guard Service, provided by the VFW Post #3360, will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
 
Jack will be greatly missed by his family, friends and the community at Glenn Park.
