Irene Medrano DeLeon, 75, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital.  
  
She was born on September 4, 1941 to Maximino and Clemencia (Mora) Medrano in Weslaco, Texas. Irene was a member of St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon. She retired from Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio.
  
Irene will be sadly missed by her sons, Jose (Maricela) DeLeon, III of Wauseon, Gonzalo DeLeon of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Gerardo DeLeon of Columbus, Ricardo DeLeon of Defiance, daughter Norma (Candelario) Valenzuela of Defiance,  15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, brothers, Guadalupe Medrano of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Maximino (Sylvia) Medrano of San Antonio, Texas, sisters, Mely (Arturo) DeLeon of Defiance, and Sabina Ventura of Chicago. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Eduardo DeLeon, brother Gabino Medrano, sister-in-law Joyce Medrano, and a grandson Eduardo Deleon, Jr.
  
Visitation will be held from 3:00  to  8:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
