George "Vic" Ellison, 68, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home in Defiance.  
  
He was born on October 11, 1948 to William and Ozelia (Austin) Ellison in Jellico, Tennessee. On July 11, 1969 he married Betty (Martin) Ellison, who resides in Defiance. 
 
George attended Trinity United Methodist Church. He worked at General Motors for 37 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member and trustee of Elks  Lodge #147, Eagles Post #372, Toledo Zenobia Shriner's, and was 33rd Degree in Local Masons.  George was a founding member and coach of Defiance Little League Football. He coached VFW Bears, Optimist Raiders, and eighth grade football for over 30 years. He also coached Defiance Little League baseball for the S/K Handtools team. George was on the chain crew for Defiance High School football for over 20 years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, football, especially Tennessee Vols football, reading, and watching movies.  George had a true love and devotion of sports and coaching. He will be remembered and missed by so many.
  
George is survived by his loving spouse of 47 years,  Betty Ellison of Defiance, sons, Chris (Heather) Ellison of Defiance, and Mike (Lynn) Ellison of Lebanon, Ohio, six  grandchildren; Taylor, Hannah, Zach, Wyatt, Kendall, and Brady, and brother, James (Helen) Ellison of Knoxville, TN. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ray Ellison, Robert Ellison, and sister, Patsy Simms.
  
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Judy Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
  
Memorials are suggested to Diabetes Foundation, or DHS Athletic Boosters.
