G. Fredrick Connor, 70, of Defiance, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital.   
  
He was born on December 31, 1946 to Richard D. and A. Pauline (Mercer) Connor in Defiance. On December 26, 1980 he married Laura (Rath) Connor, who resides in Defiance. 
  
Fred was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Defiance High School, and a graduate of BGSU. He earned his Masters Degree of Science and Education from the University of Toledo in 1982, and also completed doctoral course work. Fred taught school in Ottoville and Payne, Ohio, and at St. John Catholic School in Defiance. He worked for Northwest Ohio Private Industry Council.  Fred drove truck for Keller Trucking in Defiance, and became a trainer for the company before retiring in September, 2014. Fred will be greatly missed not only by his family, but by all who knew him.
  
Fred is survived by his loving spouse of  36 years, Laura Connor, sons, Brian (Elaina) Connor of Chicago, Neil Connor of Toledo, Kevin Connor of Defiance, daughters, Maureen (Andrew) Schultz of Los Angeles, CA, and Bridget (Jake) Oberlin of Defiance, grandson, Jameson Oberlin, brothers, Larry (Susan) Connor of Sylvania,  Dennis (Mary) Connor of Florida, sister, Tami (Al) Sandifer of Adrian, MI, and sister-in-law, Suzi Connor of Scottsdale, AZ.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dr. Terry Connor.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
