Farrell R. Shook, 78, of Defiance, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.

He was born on August 24, 1938 to  James and Mamie (Williams) Shook in Clinchco, Virginia. On September 13, 1959 he married Marsha (Miller) Shook, who resides in Defiance.

Farrell worked for 42 years as a supervisor at Diehl's in Defiance, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Defiance Eagles #372, The NRA, and Defiance Fish & Game. Farrell loved the mountains and the outdoors, and enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting, and listening to Bluegrass music. He enjoyed working on cars, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Farrell was a cheerful man, and never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by his family, and numerous friends.

Farrell is survived by his loving spouse of 57 years, Marsha Shook of Defiance, daughters, Shelly Meyers, and Jody (Lonnie) Roehrig, and son, Eric (Terri) Shook, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers, Ken Shook and Danny Michael Shook, and sister, Suzanne Shook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three great-grandchildren, Connor, Brayden, and Kyla Leininger, brother, Billy Shook, and sister, Nina McCoy.

Friends may call for visitation from 2:00 to 4:00, and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance.
