Estela Soliz, 91, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance.
  
She was born on July 30, 1924 to Eulalio and Maria (Soto) Jimenez in Cotulla, Texas. On  December 21, 1946 she married Rosendo M. Soliz, who preceded her in death on September 16, 2010.
  
Estela was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a nurse's aide at the Defiance Hospital for over 25 years. Estela loved to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending her time with her grandchildren.
  
Estela will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Mary (David) Flores of Defiance, son, Juan A. (Marlene) Soliz of Defiance, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, siblings:, Jose Maria Jimenez of Detroit, Michigan,  David Jimenez of Chicago, Illinois, Cruz (Janice) Jimenez of Ney, Ohio,  Eulalio (Sandy) Jimenez, Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX, Esperanza Jimenez of Defiance, Raul (Lydia) Jimenez of Austin, TX, Olga (Jose) Ruiz,  Jesusita Jimenez,  Ernesto (Letty) Jimenez, and  Francisco Jimenez , all of Defiance.
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Eulalio Jimenez Sr., her husband of 63 years, Rosendo M. Soliz, and brothers, Raul I. Jimenez, Eudelio Jimenez, and Pilar Jimenez.
  
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 2:30 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance,  with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
