Ellen R. "Rosie" Hall, 82 , of Defiance, went home to be with the Lord on  April 3, 2017.   
  
She was born on September 2, 1934 to Albert and Olive (Stork) Schall in Defiance. She was a 1952 graduate of Ayersville High School, and she received her Bachelor's Degree from Defiance College in 1958. On June 21, 1958 she married John R. Hall, who preceded her in death on December 12, 2013.

Rosie was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance. She was a life member of Defiance County Retired Teachers, and Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She taught Elementary School at Ayersville Schools and Defiance City Schools for 30 years, retiring on November 1, 1996. Rosie enjoyed volunteering at Defiance Regional Medical Center Thrift Shop. She loved spending time with her family.
  
Rosie will be greatly missed by her daughter, Beth (John) Curtzwiler of Defiance, sons, Todd (Deb) Hall of Defiance, and Mark (Dawn) Hall of Defiance, grandchildren, Staci (Brian) Menzie of Indianapolis, IN, Sarah (Mike) Overmier of Archbold, Kyle Nester of Defiance, Kathryn Hall of Defiance, Kirstie (Shaun) Mack of Defiance, Dalton Hall of Defiance, 7 great-grandchildren, and sister, Eldene Atkinson of Toledo. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, John R. Hall.
  
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and for one hour prior to services at the church.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on  Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Defiance, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating. Burial will  follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
