Earl L. Fry, 91, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.    
  
He was born on June 30, 1926 to Ralph and Lavina (Walz) Fry in Edon, OH.  On September 26, 1946  he married Naomi (Jacoby) Fry, who preceded him in death on May 27, 2002.  Earl proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. 

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance American Legion, and a life member of Defiance VFW #3360. Earl worked in Quality Control at Zeller Corporation for over 42 years, retiring in 1989. He played basketball, football, softball, and ran track in high school. He enjoyed fishing, and watching sports. Earl loved spending time with his family.
  
Earl will be sadly missed by his son, Fred (Sharon) Fry of Toledo, daughter, Carol (Charles) Edwards of Defiance, 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, 5 step-granddaughters, 3 step-great-grandchildren, and brother, Harry (Nancy) Fry of Defiance. 
  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Fry, son, David E. Fry in infancy, sisters, Edith Brown and Esther Fender, brothers, Harold and Raymond Fry, twin grandchildren at birth, as well as one grandson. 
  
Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, and also for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 10th at St. John Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, with graveside military honors accorded by VFW #3360.
