Dr. William Savage Busteed, 88, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.  
  
He was born on October 27, 1927 to William S.S. and Dorothy (Savage) Busteed in Van Wert, Ohio. He served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1947. On December 26, 1948 he married Joann (Lourash) Busteed, who resides in Defiance.
  
William was a member of  St. Paul United Methodist Church in Defiance. He was a graduate of Paulding High School in 1945, Defiance College graduate in 1950, University of Michigan graduate in 1954, and did his Internship in Portland, Oregon.  He started a Physicians Office in downtown Defiance with Dr. John Fauster in 1955, and was a co-founder of the Defiance Clinic in 1962. William was the Chief of Staff at Defiance Clinic from 1970 to 1971, and Chief of Staff at Defiance Hospital from 1980 to 1981 He was a Sports Medicine Physician at the Defiance College from 1958 to 1982. William was the Medical Director for four area nursing homes. His memberships include American Medical Association, American College of Physician Executives, American Society of Anesthesiologists, Ohio State Medical Association, a Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Management, and member of the NW Ohio Heart Association.  
  
William is survived by his loving spouse of 67 years, wife Joann Busteed of Defiance, sons William S. Busteed of Gaithersburg, Maryland, David Busteed of Defiance, Alan Busteed of Los Angeles, California, daughter Elizabeth (Dennis) Busteed-Hefner, and granddaughter Deni-Marie Hefner of Morehead, Kentucky.
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Busteed, brother Raymond Busteed, and a sister in infancy, Betty Busteed.
  
A Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Defiance, with Pastor Joe Payne officiating.
