Della M. Bevins, 84, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Twin Rivers Care and Rehabilitation Center in Defiance.
She was born on June 17, 1933 to Harold and Beulah (Sullins) Salyers in Scott County, Virginia. In 1951 she married William K. Bevins, who preceded her in death in 1987. Della worked at Campbell's Soup Company in Napoleon, and she was a crossing guard at Spencer School in Defiance. Della was the second child of 13 children, and she helped raise all of them. She dedicated her life to raising her family, and spending time with her family was her priority.
Della will be sadly missed by her two sons, William Bevins of Evansport, and Robert Bevins of Defiance, five daughters, Beulah Dare (Timothy) Tiderman of Grand Rapids, OH, Linda (Calvin) Tipton of Defiance, Joni (Kevin) Garber of Paulding, Mary Bevins and Polly Bevins, both of Defiance, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Mac Arthur Salyers of Nicklesville, VA, Charles Salyers of Deshler, sisters, Nell Dockery and Leona Salyers, both of Continental, Jean Schroeder of Ottawa, and Judy Messer of Hicksville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Bevins, son, Jack Bevins, a granddaughter, Kelly Tipton Reed, a grandson, Alex Bevins, sisters, Wilma Brashear, Naomi Porter, and Carol Salyers, brothers, Bill Salyers, Johnny Salyers, and Harold Salyers.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 am prior to services on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 13th at Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deb Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Monroe Twp. Cemetery.
