Darwin Lee "Bucker" Brown, Sr., 78, of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2017 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.   
  
He was born on May 10, 1939 to Lionel and A. Ladene (Grimes) Brown in Paulding County, OH. He was a 1957 graduate of Oakwood High School. On September 22, 1962  he married Carol (Bussing) Brown, who resides in Oakwood. 
  
Darwin served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Junction, and most recently a member of  St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance. He worked at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, IN for over 31 years, retiring in 2000. He was a part-time farmer, and a member of the URW #715. He loved classic cars and antique tractors.
  
Darwin will be sadly missed by his loving wife of  55 years, Carol Brown of Oakwood, sons, Darwin "Butch" (Dedra) Brown, Jr. of  Huntertown, IN, Patrick  "Mike" (Sarah Switzer) Brown of Oakwood, and Robert  "Huck" (Cyndi) Brown of Continental, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sisters, Edna Miller of Coldwater, MI, and Charlene McLaughlin of Mesa, AZ. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents. 
  
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 6th at St. John's Catholic Church in Defiance, with Fr. Eric Mueller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sherman Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by VFW Post #3360.
