Clarence "Gene" Roehrig, 92, of Defiance, passed away on  Saturday, August 13, 2016 at CHP Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center.  
  
He was born on May 26, 1924 to Olin and Veronica (Cupp) Roehrig in Defiance, OH.  On January 14, 1950 he married Marian Sisco, who survives.
  
Gene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW Post 3360, and Eagles Aerie 372, all of Defiance, and he enjoyed golfing, birdwatching, fishing, and the lake life.
  
Gene is survived by his loving spouse, Marian Roehrig of Defiance, OH, 5 sons, Wade Roehrig of Defiance, OH, Keith (Linda) Roehrig of Defiance, OH, Rex (Ling) Roehrig of Sylvania, OH, Robb (Jocelyn) Roehrig of Fremont, IN, and Rick Roehrig of Defiance, OH, 4 daughters, Ezetta (Jeff) Newton of Defiance, OH, Anita (Denny) Fracassi of Bismarck, ND,  Brenda (Scott) Seipel of Maumee, OH, and Lisa (Chris) Jones of Defiance, OH. 

Among other survivors include 23 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 6 brothers, John, Paul, Donald, Wayne, Lynn, and Denny Roehrig, all of Defiance, OH. 
  
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, June Hoffman and Joyce Shock.
  
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, with a vigil service beginning at 2:00 pm.
     
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 11:00 am in St Mary Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Father Randy Giesige, officiating.
  
Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, with Miliatary Honors conducted by VFW Post 3360.
  
Memorials are suggested to the CHP Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center.
