Charles Marchant, 79, of Defiance, passed away on  January 17, 2014 at his residence Defiance, OH. 
 
He was born on February 4, 1934 to Alvin and Elsie (D'Moray) Marchant in Jersey City, NJ. On November 13, 1976 he married Anna Brink in Holgate, Ohio. Charles and Anna lived in Defiance, Ohio.

Charles worked for Spangler Candy Company and then at Campbells Soup for 25 years, until he retired in 1996. 

Charles is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years, Anna of Defiance, OH, daughters, Charlene (Gordon) Miller of Bastrop, TX, Debbie Marchant of St. Louis, MO, Colette (Blake) Ogden of Kingsville, TX, Shelly (Ken) Hodges of Defiance, OH, Leona Marchant of Defiance, OH, Lisa (Phil) Klenk of Winthrop, MN, Sharon Ward of Defiance, OH, Barb (Scott) Slagter of Casanovia, MI, Jan (Joe) Ramey of Sherwood, OH, son, David (Karisa) Marchant of Defiance, OH, 23 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, and many other that adopted him as a second dad over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Carl Ray Priddy II, and a great-grandson Matthew Netcher Priddy.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 pm on Monday, January 20, 2014 & from 10:00 -11:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.
    
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral  Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Rev. David Brobston, officiating.
 
Burial will take place at St. Stephen Lutheran Cemetery.
